It’s often thought that estate planning is only relevant when you are wealthy or retired, but almost anyone with assets however large or small can often benefit from estate planning, avoiding complications that can arise when someone dies.

People can often overlook or delay estate planning because they aren’t sufficiently well informed or think they are too young, too busy or as we’ve said not sufficiently wealthy.

Estate planning encompasses the process of assessing the value of your estate and ensuring that the right documentation is in place (such as wills and lasting powers of attorney) to transfer your assets and pass on your business interests after your death, in line with your wishes. It also relates to the formation of any relevant trusts.
