NewLaw Scotland has successfully won compensation for a family in Glasgow who lost a beloved wife, mother and grandmother when she choked to death whilst in a care home for respite.
Paula McMillan, Partner, said, “This family came to NewLaw Scotland bereft with their loss having failed to get any comfort, reassurance or justice from the involvement of the Care Inspectorate or the Crown. Although there were clear difficulties to overcome in the case, I was determined to support Mrs H and her family pursue the justice they deserved. I am delighted that we were able to assist this family and recover compensation for their loss, something they didn’t think was possible until they came to NewLaw Scotland.”
Our client, Mrs H, said, “Paula McMillan and her team at NewLaw were invaluable in helping our family though what can only be described as a traumatic time. We were left devastated when our mum died after being in a local care home for respite care. We visited a number of legal firms and were turned away as the case was 'too difficult' or 'too hard to win'. NewLaw looked at the papers and said they would help, they just seemed to 'get it' and understood the situation. It was clear it mattered to NewLaw Scotland.
'We were under no illusions and knew it was going to be a long and tough road. They worked tirelessly on our behalf and kept pushing forward, failing to allow anything to stand in the way of justice. They successfully steered their way through a minefield and obtained compensation for our family. The case was complex and difficult, it took time and persistence, but with the help of Paula and her team we were successful. Finding a legal firm who care about people is hard. NewLaw went above and beyond the call of duty, providing an outstanding legal service. We feel very lucky to have found them and our heartfelt thanks and gratitude are sent to Paula and her team. We could not have done it without them.”
